Terms and Conditions

1. Shipping Policy

1.1   Local/national delivery

Reputable couriers are used for all our deliveries. Courier costs for delivery in South Africa are R110 to main centres (3-4 business days). For outlying areas, courier costs may be higher and delivery may take longer to complete. Locker-to-locker services (such as Pudo/Courier Guy) may be cost-effective alternatives in these cases.
Free delivery (in South Africa) is available for all orders over R1000.

Express delivery can be arranged on special request. Courier surcharges may apply and are payable by the customer in such cases.

Should you require any further information on shipping options available, please do not hesitate to contact us.

1.2   Order tracking

A Waybill Number and tracking details will be provided once an order has been dispatched.

1.3   International shipments

Items can be shipped internationally on special request and with prior arrangement only. Due to currency fluctuations, international courier rates are quoted upon ordering.
International delivery normally takes between 10 and 14 business days, excluding any time required for customs clearance and/or lead manufacturing time (if applicable).
International shipping rates exclude any Customs/Duty charges or taxes that may be applicable, as well as any additional processing charges that may be levied by the couriers. Any and all such charges are payable by the customer, and Pearls & Frills will in no way be liable for any associated costs with importing an item.

It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that all items ordered comply with the relevant import and customs laws and regulations of the particular destination country, and that all items ordered are eligible for import. Pearls & Frills cannot be held responsible for any item that is not eligible for import and/or held by customs offices of the destination country for whatever reason.

2. Returns, Exchanges, Refunds

Please refer to our Returns Policy for details on Returns, Exchanges and/or Refunds.

3. Cancellation of Orders

Pearls & Frills reserves the right to cancel any order for which payment has already been received. This may occur if stock is insufficient, if the necessary materials cannot be procured, or if the quality of goods ordered does not meet our quality standards. Should we exercise this right, the customer will receive a full refund with no deductions.

 4. Custom and bulk orders

Please contact Pearls & Frills should you require any custom orders. We will make every attempt to accommodate your request, including item, quantity, design, shape/colour/size/quality of pearls as well as the clasps or enhancers required, taking into account your stated budget.

Custom orders are dependent on a variety of factors, including complexity of design, availability of pearls and other supplies, any supply chain restrictions/delays that may exist at the time and so forth.

Most custom orders can be completed within 3-4 weeks of ordering (depending on abovementioned factors). Pearls & Frills will be in communication with our customers throughout the process to ensure that they remain updated about the progess.

A minimum order amount may apply for custom items and/or bullk orders.

All custom orders will require a 50% deposit, with the balance payable before the item is shipped.

All products remain the property of Pearls & Frills until paid for in full.

5. Safety warnings/disclaimers

Pearls & Frills can under no circumstances be held responsible or liable for any injury or damage occuring as a result of the use of our products. The use of any of our products are solely at the risk of the customer.
The customer indemnifies and holds Pearls & Frills, its owner, employees and associates harmless against any loss, injury or damages which may be sustained as a result of using the products sold by Pearls & Frills.

Pearls & Frills products are not suitable for children.

Our products contain small parts which can pose a choking hazard and may be dangerous should they be swallowed. In addition, some products use magnetic clasps and/or magnetic enhancers which may be dangerous when swallowed and which may also interfere with pace makers or other medical devices.

We are not liable to you for any indirect or consequential loss or damage of items purchased once the packages have been opened and/or items have been worn.

6. Complaints

7. Photographs and product variations:

Pearls & Frills take all reasonable steps to ensure that the photographs of the products listed on our website are an accurate representation of the actual products, including their colour. It should be noted, however, that colour displays of various devices differ and therefore Pearls & Frills cannot be held responsible should the actual product(s) deviate from the product(s) listed on our website or elsewhere (e.g. on social media).

In addition, products sold by Pearls & Frills are handmade and/or assembled using various components which are often natural (such as pearls and gemstones) or handmade (such as wood, glass and/or lampwork beads). As a result, every item will be unique. Since it is not practically possible to display photographs of every unique product variation, the product received by the customer may differ slightly from the product photographs listed.

8. Natural and handmade items

Products sold by Pearls & Frills are handmade and/or assembled using various components which are often natural (such as pearls and gemstones) or handmade (such as wood, glass and/or lampwork beads). As a result, some marks may be visible which add to the character of our pieces. These are not considered “defects”, flaws or faults and therefore do not constitute a valid reason for return/exchange of the item.

9. Pearls

Pearls & Frills primarily use freshwater (cultured) pearls, but may from time-to-time also sell products made from other types of pearls including Akoya pearls or Tahitian pearls.

Since pearls are a natural and organic product, they vary in colour, texture, shape and size and will also have visible imperfections and growth marks. These are not considered flaws or faults, but rather add to the uniqueness and beauty of the pearls. As a result,  these imperfections do not constitute a valid reason for return/exchange of the item.

Please refer to the detailed product descriptions for more information on the quality of pearls used for a particular design, to ensure that the quality of pearls used meet your requirements. If you have any questions regarding the pearls used in a particular product, please do not hesitate to contact us.

10. Taking care of your jewellery
